4Freedom

Life should  not be a prison sentence. Unfortunately, for the 27 million people who live under the oppression of modern day slavery, life is just that. They are constantly beat down – physically, emotionally, sexually – and faced with a lifetime of pain and fear. The only dream they have is the dream of being freed from their oppressor; but, as the days and years roll by without anyone coming to their aid, even this simple dream of a life beyond shackles and darkness fades, leaving them completely empty.

Human trafficking is an organized criminal industry that affects every nation. It is the second largest global organized crime today, generating approximately 31.6 billion USD each year. Specifically, trafficking for sexual exploitation generates 27.8 billion USD per year. There are 1.39 million victims of commercial sexual servitude worldwide.

This is not ok.

At The Cairn, our desire to Drink Deep and Dream Big extends beyond our walls and beyond our community. We are committed to raising awareness and resources to fight modern day slavery and human trafficking. We want to provide opportunities for victims of human trafficking to be able to – perhaps for the first time – be able to dream big…and to see those dreams become a reality.

4Freedom is a Winchester-based initiative launched by a group of people who are passionate about the cause of abolition. Through events like the Freedom March and the Run 4Freedom 5K, 4Freedom seeks to raise awareness locally for this global injustice.

The Cairn offers a number of opportunities to raise awareness and support for this very real and pressing need. Through our business practices and other special events, we support 4Freedom, as well as other anti-slavery organizations in order to bring life, liberty, and the freedom to dream to victims of human trafficking around the world. Some of the ways we do this are as follows:

  • We sell Zoe Coffee from RescueHer. All proceeds from Zoe Coffee sales go towards the fight against human trafficking.
  • The 4th day of every month is Drink 4Freedom Day at The Cairn. On these days, all income from food and beverage sales durning lunch (11am-1pm) will be donated to the A21 Campaign, in conjunction with 4Freedom.
  • The Cairn sponsors and supports Run 4Freedom - an annual 5K that will bring awareness to the issue of human trafficking and raise money to support anti-slavery organizations.
  • The Cairn will sell items (jewelry, clothing, etc.) that raise awareness for the plight of modern day slavery. All proceeds from the sale of these items will go towards various anti-slavery organizations.
  • We will continue to support anti-slavery organizations like 4Freedom, the A21 Campaign, Tiny Hands, and the International Justice Mission in whatever ways we are able.
