Our Mission

The mission and vision of The Cairn are wrapped in two simple statements: Drink Deep and Dream Big. Everything that we do as an organization serves to promote one, or both, of these concepts.

This richness and joy is often found in simplest of moments: your first sip of coffee for the day, a smile, a song, an aroma, a friendship. It is our goal at The Cairn to be a place where you can find that fullness and those simple joys any time you want them. Our first-floor coffee house will be a place where you can drink and enjoy the finest cup of coffee, allowing the sights, sounds, and smells of rejuvenation wash over you. More importantly, through our incorporation of art and music into the ambiance of The Cairn, we hope you are able to “drink deep” from life, relationships, creativity, and community.

Dreams represent our idea of a preferred future – of things that could or should be. And dreams rarely are achieved in isolation…which is why at The Cairn we desire to be place that fosters, encourages, and supports your big dreams. For us, this starts with our community teen center: a place where teenagers in our community can come – for free – and have opportunities to be mentored, encouraged, and to build skills and develop passions that will help them take some very real steps towards achieving some very big dreams.

But our dreams are bigger than just Winchester. There are millions of people around the world who, because of injustice, oppression, and the bonds of slavery, will never be able to dream for themselves unless we do something. We desire, through awareness and fundraising, to help bring freedom and “dream-realization” to those who are not able to do so unless someone intervenes.
